Maldives’s first cardiologist begins his service at IGMH

Dr. Ali Shafeeq, Maldives’s first cardiologist has begun his service at the IGMH.

Dr. Shafeeq had served at the IGMH previously as well and had earned a good reputation among the public. His specialized medical studies took place at India’s Sri Chitra Medical Institute by under an agreement between the IGMH and Sri Chitra Medical Institute

As IGMH’s Cardio department was temporarily closed because of lack of cardiologists, Dr. Shafeeq’s return would be a big triumph for IGMH and would be great news for the heart patients in the Maldives.

Doctors who had treated heart diseases at the IGMH such as Dr. Abdul Azeez Yoosuf, Dr. Abdul Hameed and Dr. Ahmed Raazee were practitioners of general medicine and their services were well received by the public. IMGH CEO Zubair also said that Dr. Ali Shafeeq’s return as a cardiologist would be a great success for the country’s health sector and said that IGMH wishes to provide more education opportunities for medical practitioners to go into specialized areas of medicine.
