DRP to elect a “President”

Posted on 27. Jan, 2010 by admin in Political Parties

Some members of the DRP have said that the position of “Zaeem” or Leader should be bestowed for its founder and former President Maumoon, and the party should from now on elect a president. They also said that they will propose the amendment to the party’s congress.

The sentiments were expressed in a gathering held by Ihuthijaaju, last night at Artificial Beach.

Currently, party has a leader and four deputy leaders.

Participant of the gathering said that it is questionable if those issues regarding the reform of the party could be discussed publicly.

Ahmed Thasmeen Ali, party’s deputy-leader and Maumoon’s running-mate during the presidential elections of 2008 had announced that he will compete for party’s leadership.
