New health scheme Madhana Plus introduced

Ministry of Health has introduced a new health insurance scheme, Madhana Plus. This scheme makes provision to get treatment from abroad.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, chairman of the national social protection agency (NSPA) Ahmed Waheed said that additional payment of MRF1500 has to be paid in order to utilize this scheme. He said that only people who have applied for Madhana scheme can apply for Madhana Plus. Under this program Maldivians will be able to receive medical treatment which is not available in Maldives. Arrangements have been made with hospitals in India and Waheed said that the Ministry is in talks with Sri Lanka as well.
Waheed said that people can now apply for this scheme and for those who submit applications before 27 of November 2009 will receive service by January 2009of next year but for applicants who submit after November 2009 will receive the service in July 2009.
