Man tested positive for H1N1

Ministry of Health and Family has said that a Japanese tourist who came to Maldives on Monday through Sri Lankan Airlines has been confirmed to have H1N1 on Monday.
According to the press release issued by the Health Ministry Tuesday evening, the 26 year old man was brought to ADK hospital because he had symptoms of common cold that morning and was tested for Influenza A. When he was tested positive for that, another test was conducted for H1N1 upon which it was confirmed positive.
This would be the first case of H1N1 tested positive in Maldives since the facility of testing for it began in the country. In accordance with regulations, the tourist was quarantined in Hulhule till the results of H1N1 test came out and as is the policy the patient will be treated in the H1N1 facility for seven days.
Ministry also said that H1N1 test is being conducted on the people who were with the patient.
Ministry further noted that so far all the people who were quarantined in Hulhule after being tested positive for Influenza A and H1N1 were released from the facility when they were completely cured.
Out of 80 people who were screened in Maldives, only 4 cases of swine flu were found.
